My husband and I love go camping and canoeing in the warm months. We have one location we go to every year that we have access to one power pole that about 20 people share and then most of the other campsites we go to don't have electricity unless you are staying in a camper. We have one light that works great and we have had it for years, but it takes D batteries and it gets pricey replacing them every year.
One of the best features of this light is the different charging options. You charge it with solar power which takes about 12 hours. You can just set it where it will get a good amount of light and by night time it will be ready to go. You can also charge it with a micro USB power source as well and it only takes 4 hours to charge. You can use the same USB port in your car that you use to charge your cell phone to charge or we just used one of the bases that came with our cellphone and plugged it into that. It is rain resistant, This light has 18 LED lights which will light up your tent very nicely and can used for so many other things. It has 3 modes; high, low and flashing. It's very simple to use, there is a button on the light press it once for low twice for high, 3 times for flashing or one more time to turn it off. You can hang it from the loop that is usually standard in the top of most tents, you can hang it from the loops on pop-up canopies to for lighting or you could even hang it from the hood of a car for while doing repairs at night. It can also be sat on the base in the middle of a table with the arms folded down for lighting while preparing meals at a campsite. The flashing feature would be good in emergency situations, to help someone locate you or to deter traffic if you are broken down on the side of the road. The best part is that you won't even have to buy batteries for this light and it charges basically for free if you use the solar power. When charging by micro USB, the light with be red to indicate that it is charging and turn green when fully charged. It has a smart protection feature that won't allow it to overcharge which can shorten the life of some products. It measures 10" L x 10" W x 1"H when unfolded and 6"L x 6"W x 2"H when folded up. It would fit easily in a backpack or glove box. You can get yours here!
I received this item for free for my honest and unbiased review.
